World Vegan Day – 10 Vegan Foods You’ll Love: Countless people across the country (and the world) are discovering the joys of eating a healthy, plant based diet. ‘Going vegan’ means that you quit eating all animal products, including meat, dairy, eggs, honey and any animal derived ingredients. Vegans also do not use any animal products or materials in their homes or on their bodies, including fur, leather, wool, beeswax or bone.

That said, being vegan does not have to be a chore! With World Vegan Day just around the corner, here are 10 vegan foods you’ll love, and there are plenty more to discover if you cant find these in a store near you:

1. Oreos

Yes, you read that correctly! While certainly not a health food, the classic Oreo sandwich cookie is surprisingly completely vegan, so you can pig out with a clean conscience.

2. Linda McCartney’s Sausages

This famous vegan brand is renowned for animal activism, and they make a darn tasty sausage – winning best taste awards year after year!

3. Sandwiches

Ahhh, a fast and filling sandwich that is perfect for vegans – what could be better? We suggest a chickpea and avocado salad sandwich or even a falafel and pitta bread sandwich both cheap and easy to make.

4. Vegan Cheese

Various cheese producers have recently leveled up their vegan game and introduced of a line of dairy free cheeses. Vegan cheddar, feta, cream cheese and more, are just a few of the cheesy options available.

A number of stores are introducing “free from” ranges to their aisles. Offering classics such as strawberry and vanilla ice cream cones that are deliciously moreish. You won’t be able to believe that they contain no dairy!

6. Organic Tofu Wieners

Sometimes only a hot dog will do at a BBQ especially a tofu one! Sold at various stores tofu based hot dog wieners will satisfy your ballpark cravings. Who said tofu had to be boring?

7. Vegan Ready Meals

Most of the major supermarkets are now offering completely vegan ready meals. Thai noodle dishes, all manners of curries, lasagnas, pastas and even vegan mac and cheese!

8. Hummus, Dolmades and Baba Ghanoush

It’s no secret the US has a love affair with mezze, and thankfully most brands are completely vegan. Do check some baba ghanoush brands, as they can sometimes have mayonnaise added in. You could also try making your own!

9. Ben and Jerry’s Dairy Free

Vegans all over the world cheered when ice cream legends Ben and Jerry announced that they were releasing a line of dairy free flavours. Try Chunky Monkey, Peanut Butter & Cookies, and Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

10. Super Green ‘Meatballs’

Tr making these ultra healthy ‘vegan meatballs’ packed with carrots, kale, chickpeas and more. You can treat them like falafels or add them to a tomato sauce like you would regular meatballs.
